CHERRY DUMP CAKE RECIPE


When it comes to fruit desserts, one of my easy favorites is the humble dump cake. It really has a terrible name but the idea behind it is you “dump” everything in and bake it. The bonus of this cherry dump cake dessert is you can any pie filling flavor you love! I’ve tried nearly all of them and they all work great.



Wondering how to make a cherry dump cake? I happen to really love cherry. It not only has a perfect sweet/tart combination but it just looks pretty! I love the bright red color and is nice to make around the holidays. 

CHERRY DUMP CAKE
YIELD: 8 SERVINGS, TOTAL TIME:1 HR

INGREDIENTS:

1 box yellow cake mix
2 (21-ounce) cans cherry pie filling
1 stick butter, melted
¼ cup packed light brown sugar

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spray a 9 x 13 inch glass baking dish.
  • Dump both cans of cherry pie filling into the baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle the cake mix over the layer of cherry pie filling as evenly as possible.
  • Melt the stick of butter and drizzle it evenly over the top of the cake mix covering as much as possible.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top.
  • Bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until golden brown.
